Below are some of the frequent questions we get asked and (hopefully) answered.
1. Do you have to attend every week?
Yes, if you are going to get the most from being a member it’s important for you to establish a relationship with your fellow members, that way they will be confident enough to start passing you business referrals.
2. If I cannot attend could I send someone else?
Yes, a substitute can be used. In fact it can be a good way of getting new members, a substitue can be a friend, work collegue or even a client, anyone who can stand in for you when you need them. There is also a BNI website that is designed to help you find a substitutes when you need one.
3. Is it true that you have to give a 1 minute presentation every week?
Yes, we need to know as much about you and your business as possible so that we can find business referrals for you. So your one minute presentation is designed for you to tell us exactly what it is you do and who you would most like to receive business from.
4. I’m a nervous wreck when presenting can you help?
BNI provide a whole host of training courses, and there is one specifically aimed at helping you improve your presentation skills. The group will also help you with your presentation and give you feedback on how to improve it if thats required.
5. What is a referral?
A referral is a genuine warmed up contact for one of your Chapter members where the contact is expecting their call, it is not a lead. A referral is a genuine opportunity for business.
6. How many businesses attend?
There are currently over 20 businesses involved in BNI Boyne and our target is to take that to 30. All the businesses are different due to BNI only allowing one person form each category to attend. Once you're in you are the only business of that type allowed in.
7. I’ve heard that you check participation?
Yes, we record attendance, referrals given and received testimonials plus the value of business passed. BNI is run like any good business where results are recorded to check how successful we are
